On August 29, 2024, at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), the WISE-Futures scholarship beneficiaries celebrated their graduation. This event, marking the 10th graduation ceremony of NM-AIST, was not just a celebration of academic achievement but also a significant step towards transforming Africa’s economies through innovation in the Water, Sanitation, and Energy sectors.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was honored by the presence of the institution’s Chancellor, Honorable Omari Issa,<\/strong> who conferred degrees upon the graduates. Among the distinguished graduates were Adam Faraji Mfangavo,<\/strong> who earned a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy Science and Engineering with his  research titled \u201cComputational and Experimental Performance Analysis of a Runner for Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant,\u201d and John Pyuza Gunda,<\/strong> who completed a Master\u2019s degree in Sustainable Energy Science and Engineering with his innovative research on the \u201cDesign of an Evaporative Cooling System Integrated with Ultraviolet Light for the Preservation of Fruits and Vegetables in Variable Tropical Weather Conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The journey of these graduates, supported by the WISE-Futures scholarship, is a testament to their dedication to advancing the energy sector and addressing critical challenges in Tanzania and beyond. The WISE-Futures program was instrumental in their success, providing access to state-of-the-art research facilities, expert mentorship, and hands-on experience. These graduates are now equipped to drive innovation and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the broader region.<\/p>\n

As these skilled professionals step into their careers, they carry with them the potential to deliver cutting-edge research and innovative solutions in the Water, Sanitation, and Energy sectors\u2014fields crucial for the sustainable development of Africa.
