The 3rd International Conference on Energy, Aquatech and Sustainability took place at Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) Arusha, Tanzania, from 12nd -13rd August 2019. The event was officiated by Hon. Prof. Joyce Ndalichako (MP) the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology in the presence of Dir.Du Young Park the Director-General, Directorate for International Affairs, National Research Foundation (Korea) and his entourage.
Speaking during opening remarks Hon. Prof Joyce Ndalichako, congratulates WISE-Futures for support NM-AIST in strengthening the quality of its degree programs and related services needed for achieving its motto “academia for society and industry.”
“I am happy to hear that initiative with South Korea SAMCOOM that WISE -Futures is exploring, specifically the arrangement to establish a facility that will contribute intensive research, innovation and product development (R&D) for NM-AIST,”
“This facility will further strengthen the quality of research and innovation by the students, faculties, schools, and the university at large, which will ultimately contribute to the development of human capital highly needed to realize Tanzania industrialization goal”,she said
This year conference was organized by the center for Water Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy Futures (WISE-Futures) in collaboration with Innovative Technology and Energy Center (iTEC).
It brought together delegates from 6 African countries others from European, Korea and Japan and others from invited dignitaries. The main them of the conference was “Energy, Aquatech and Sustainability”.
The conference aimed to provide opportunities for researchers to exchange knowledge and promote international and multi-disciplinary collaborations. Moreover, the conference provides a forum for the presentation of the state of the art technology in energy, aquatech, sustainability, appropriate technology, and another related field.
On the other side the conference had two sessions, the oral session for presentation and the poster presentation which attracted several participants.
During dinner party the hand over certificates award for the best five (5) presentations and five (5) best poster presentation, In line with that they provide Young Researcher Award to three(3) participants from (Copperbelt University, Zambia) and four (4) from (The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, Arusha) for those who show outstanding ability and professional promise in the field of energy and sustainability.
